Director of CESE and an Associate Teaching Professor in Chemistry

Jackie Bortiatynski is the Director of CESE and an Associate Teaching Professor in Chemistry. She received her PhD. in Chemistry from PSU in 1990. She spent 8 years as a research associate in the Fuel Science Program at Penn State, focusing on the interaction of pollutants with soils. She leads CESE in its effort to support an active community of educators in their transformation of our STEM curriculum through the use of research-based pedagogical practices. These efforts include: faculty workshops, educational research studies, and the CESE Tombros faculty fellow program. She was honored with the Atherton Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2019 for her efforts.
