2023 Summit

Theme: “Mobilizing Change Together Through Engagement: Shaping the Pathway Forward”

Date: Thursday, May 18th, 2023, 9:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.

Description:

The 2023 Student Engagement Summit will feature multiple sessions designed to generate conversation among Penn State faculty and staff about student engagement in our present landscape, including campus resources, program alignment, and the ongoing development of the Student Engagement Network (SEN).

Educational leaders are challenged by difficult circumstances that require new, collaborative thinking. We can no longer go back to the way things were to address new challenges. The 2023 Student Engagement Summit will focus on shaping the pathway forward while facing funding challenges, shifts in student behavior, and unique circumstances influencing higher education (e.g., technology, cultural trends, etc.). Participants will be challenged to consider how Penn State can envision engagement in meaningful, effective ways and provide successful strategies for students, faculty, and staff.

Please address one of the following core areas:

  1. Implementing innovative strategies that can enhance student self-empowerment through engagement.

  1. Incorporating engaged learning practices to address societal challenges in both the present and the future.

  1. Offering strategies to help maximize student engagement within our current challenges and circumstances, such as limited resources, student mental health, and student motivation.

  1. Designing engagement strategies to create positive outcomes within current university priorities (e.g., diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, student success, service or community-based projects, research, and courses with embedded components).

Join us and integrate with education leaders and experts; network with colleagues from across the commonwealth; and form new relationships that support the goal of your office/programs.
Sessions in the morning will include all REMOTE presentations, large group discussions, interactive breakout sessions/workshops, and examination of current practices at Penn State.
Sessions in the afternoon will take place at individual colleges/campuses or online (units can choose to be in person or remote). The afternoon campus sessions will be led by Engagement Officers at the campuses, based on availability.
